I actually attended the games in the Georgia Dome when the piped-in noises were suppose to have occurred. It might have raised the noise level a bit, but it wasn’t obvious. I strongly doubt it helped out the Falcons defense any; in 2013 and 2014 they were probably beyond salvaging, fair or foul. One thing all fans, Falcons and others, can agree on: doing the piped-in noise was super stupid.
Arrowhead Stadium is back to having the Guinness record for crowd noise decibel level, with no pumping required. (Of course those kinds of measurements tend to be suspect……..)
Jim Kerner: No, but it is possible that is where they got the name. The etymology is uncertain, but one hypothesis is that “one third” (literal meaning) came from the male being a third smaller than the falcon.
