Rover is asking Red if he can play Catcher. Red doesn’t thin he needs Rover as a Catcher. He is replying, "Catcher! Why do I need you to play Catcher? In the end, it sort of backfired on Red. The statement is correct & does make sense.LOVE & HUGS TO RED & ROVER
