    Slice them in half (the Brussels Sprouts, of course, not the Kindergartners) and saute in garlic butter sauce. Yummm!

    And that’s “stalks” they grow on, dkram, not “stocks”.

    I will not eat them in a bowl, I will not eat them on a roll. I will not eat them bacon-sauced, I will not eat them salad-tossed. I will not eat them with fork and knife, I will not eat them to save my life. I will not eat a Brussels Sprout, I do not like them! Now get OUT!

    (freeholder, Belgium is officially tri-lingual - French, Dutch, and German - although Brussels itself is in the francophone region, and French is used as a lingua franca.)

    Dunno about Brussels Sprouts and vinegar, but other cabbages do OK that way - (sauerkraut); another yucky is cucumbers - until they’ve been soaked for a goodly bit in the appropriate vinegar / brine mix…

    I’d read years ago that Brussels sprouts arose from a hybrid of cabbage and something else - cauliflower, maybe. If so, I thought that these were separate species.

    The truth is even weirder: several plants sometimes hardly recognizable as members of the same species are actually cultivars of wild cabbage, and Brussels sprouts are among them. Check out this article and this article on Wikipedia.
