I will not eat them in a bowl,
I will not eat them on a roll.
I will not eat them bacon-sauced,
I will not eat them salad-tossed.
I will not eat them with fork and knife,
I will not eat them to save my life.
I will not eat a Brussels Sprout,
I do not like them! Now get OUT!
(freeholder, Belgium is officially tri-lingual - French, Dutch, and German - although Brussels itself is in the francophone region, and French is used as a lingua franca.)
Dunno about Brussels Sprouts and vinegar, but other cabbages do OK that way - (sauerkraut); another yucky is cucumbers - until they’ve been soaked for a goodly bit in the appropriate vinegar / brine mix…
I’d read years ago that Brussels sprouts arose from a hybrid of cabbage and something else - cauliflower, maybe. If so, I thought that these were separate species.
The truth is even weirder: several plants sometimes hardly recognizable as members of the same species are actually cultivars of wild cabbage, and Brussels sprouts are among them. Check out this article and this article on Wikipedia.

And when they have a cold, they’re known as the phlegms.

At least that was better than Belgian Waffles….

But, you’d never put Brussel Sprouts on a waffle, right?

Based on the usual reaction to eating brussels sprouts shouldn’t that be belching kindergarteners?

“Haa, haa, haa!” that’s a good one.
Good morning fellow B.Cer’s. :-)

Good morning LW18 and others.
Aren’t they simply underdeveloped cabbages?
lewisbower over 14 years ago
YUKONER I believe they are from countries with no fertilizer, like those tiny ears of corn in Chinese food.

MontanaLady, I wouldn’t even put Brussel Sprouts on a plate.
Good Morning, Dogsniff, Ladywolf, ♠Lonewolf♠ & LuvH8!

Like to call them Baby Cabbages, but they grow on stocks. They’re ok but do need help (like a bacon sauce).

Kindergarten is a GERMAN word. Belgies use Frenchie words. Ask Neil Simon.

Slice them in half (the Brussels Sprouts, of course, not the Kindergartners) and saute in garlic butter sauce. Yummm!
And that’s “stalks” they grow on, dkram, not “stocks”.

Brussel Sprouts are good chilled in a dill and vinegar dressing!

Good Morning, LuvH8! No not a bowl - but a land-fill would be appropriate.

LOL back at you, Grog!

Butter and covered with crushed crackers… Mmm mmm Good! My wife and I have been known to have a bowl with nothing else just for lunch.
Now I’m going to have this image of eating little people in my mind.

Well, Vigilante, you can have all of my sprouts then. Enjoy! :^)

(P.S.: If you need help with that triple portion of Brussels sprouts, I’ll be glad to lend my spork to the effort.)
