dad: donde queda la biblioteca? hay un gato bajo escritorio.
mom: did you read this? the show 'sabado gigante' is ending in september.
dad: i've been learning spanish for nothing!
thatababy: lo siento, papa.
“Where is the library found?” “There is a cat under the deck.” “I’m sorry, Dad.” I learned my Spanish not from ‘Sábado Gigante’ (nor from “The George Lopez Show”). I learned it from high school and some college.
I am currently working a job site that would require knowing Spanish, Vietnamese, and English. I am assuming the Asians were speaking Vietnamese but it could have been any oft he other Asian dialects.
I tried to learn Spanish in high school. I’ve spent a fortune on tapes, books, Rosetta Stone – still nothing. I can do all the exercises but I cant speak. I think I just lack the gene…
Though my Spanish is very limited, I used to enjoy watching both “Sabado Gigante” and “Bienvienedos.” The latter I looked upon as a Spanish equivalent of Benny Hill.

Well, I"m going to miss Sábado Gigante. So that’s what happens when you are not born in Europe. In the US you only learn to speak American.
