A friend of mine used to drive the big rigs. He said the tankers you gotta watch out for are the milk trucks. Oil tankers have partitions, milk tankers don’t. Hence, they are the ones who can’t slam the brakes on and stop as short as the partitioned tankers: the liquid slams forward in the tank and will push the truck further along (like into an intersection).
the bigger problem is trucks who will pass the truck in front of them, regardless of traffic, if it’s going even ½ mph slower. This process takes roughly as long as American elections.
My wife and I have a name for two trucks side by side going up hill: one at 41 mph and the other at 41.00001 mph. We call it truck races. The Germans actually have a word for it which translates to “elephant races.”
Actually it’s the idiot car drivers that have this problem. They are especially idiotic when they pass semis, they speed up, get along side then slow down and creep past. Most dangerous place to be, along side a semi, ever see what happens when one of their tires blow?

I speed up when I pass a truck so as to spend as short a time as possible in the driver’s blind spot.
