On the other hand, General Klapka was a true Hungarian patriot, though as a descendant on one side from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, I cannot always endorse its revolutionaries….
One of my favorite writers. Not just supremely funny, but also wrote movingly on how it is to be poor and how humans adapt to the worst conditions in sometimes self-defeating ways. But his writing is nothing but compassionate and non-judgmental. Also wrote great pieces about his family life. Just a tremendous writer.
