Having someone cut you off at a grocery store register line, forcing you to another line – that turns out to be shorter and you get done before they even got to the register.

#4322: Is he fishing near the nuke plant in Springfield?#4324: In my college days, when players in the symphony orchestra needed gigs like instructor at the nearby college to make money when the orchestra was out of season, my trombone guru told me about a flutist in the symphony. Back when the average price of a car was about $5K, dropped $10K on a solid gold, one-piece flute with no joints. (Typical flute comes in three pieces.) You would think at that rate, you’d spend the delta and have a case made for it; but whoever built him the flute did not. Running late for rehearsal one morning, he put his flute and his music on top of the car as he fumbled for something. (You can guess where this is going.) Got in, started up, backed out — and heard a strange metallic crunch. Didn’t even get out to look. He knew he’d just turned a $10K musical instrument into scrap metal.
