Why did she do that? Such behavior is typical of Lucy but not Sally.

I am guessing that she thought the ocean will throw Charlie’s ball back at her. Waves are coming towards her (as they always do), aren’t they? Sometimes the ball does wash up on shore, but this time it went for a trip to Hawaii. It depends on which direction the wind blows, I think.

And anyway, better to try it out with a ball before you do it with a floating mattress and yourself. So, actually, if I was their mom, I would deeply deeply thankful it was just a ball. And I would buy new one for Charlie and tell them never go after a ball that wind is blowing towards Hawaii but just let it go…

At least Charlie Brown is right-side up again.

Thankfully Sally didn’t throw “Wilson” into the ocean…

At least we now know on which coast of the US Charlie Brown lives.

In a comic strip from February 15, 1957 it is stated that the characters live in Hennepin County, which is in Minnesota.

The Brown’s must be on Vacation, because that Beach Ball is going to have quite a difficult time getting to Hawaii from Minnesota!

I think I’ll follow it.

I cannot honestly remember Schulz drawing any “beach” strips and I always assumed the Brown’s were a Midwestern family yet with Sally’s remark about Hawaii they must be vacationing in California. They didn’t live in California though as evidenced by “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.
