Mom: After a week on the "farmer's market eating plan", do you feel lighter? Cathy: YES! Mom: Healthier? Cathy: YES! Mom: Stronger? Cathy: YES! Mom: Happier? Cathy: YES! Mom: More energetic and alive? Cathy: YES! Mom: Is there any reason on earth to step on the scale to "see how you're doing"??? Cathy: YES! Mom: See? We're just like you after all. It doesn't count as a win unless we see the number on the scoreboard.

Oh, gosh: it’s downright embarrassing how true this is!

After a week on a diet, my wife burst into tears when the scales went the wrong way. It took a few months for the scales to go the right way, so luckily she stuck to the diet and not the results of the scales.

@ HappyChappy,
If you are very close to your ideal weight and start exercising, you will replace the fat with muscle… which weighs more than fat. This will cause your weight to go up, even though you become thinner.
This might be the phenomenon that your wife experienced.

I didn’t have a scale for years because I was afraid of being a “slave” to the numbers. We’ve had one for about 4 months now, and I find myself weighing in every day. It does help me realize when I’m eating too much junk though.

That hypercolor shirt of Irving’s is really something … red to orange in only three panels!

Step away from the scale, and nobody gets hurt.

Ha ha, made me laugh did that.
Maizing……Know all about that stuff but as I said it was a diet not an exercise program. Eventually it paid off but the scales are not always a good indicator when used too often.
