See kid, when the sun is setting in the west it is simultaneously rising in the east, so observation of the sunrise is really unnecessary.

Danae, I think Lucy’s suggesting you put that clipboard where the sun don’t shine.

All Danae has to do is come down here to the Southern Hemisphere, where every thing natural works opposite to the Norhern Hemisphere. Our sun sets in your “East”, but we call it “West” here.

Danae, Lucy is not a doofus. She determined to quit so she would not volunteer to work with you on that research of sunrise/set. That is unfortunate. sigh! :-/

We had just this problem some years back: “Can you retire from a job to which you were never actually appointed?”

They must have figured it out–he retired, or just stopped doing it at any rate.
