I doubt if extinction is accurate – names go in cycles and these will be “rediscovered” at some point.(I had a class of 9 advanced math students once with 4 Jennifers in it – wanna guess what their parents watched?)

I think that they mean that babies are not being named these names, so they will be dying out at some point.
