    I think that they mean that babies are not being named these names, so they will be dying out at some point.

    I doubt if extinction is accurate – names go in cycles and these will be “rediscovered” at some point.(I had a class of 9 advanced math students once with 4 Jennifers in it – wanna guess what their parents watched?)

    BlueIris: But they have a habit of coming back. Emma is somewhat popular now, it was my grandmother’s name and vanished in the 1900s in the U S, although it persisted in Britain. My wife laments that Ms Knight is the only Gladys she is knows who is younger than she is, barely. That name hasn’t come back yet.

    Ha ha ha, Elsie the cow, representing the dairy product beginning; begat Elmer the bull, representing milk white glue products!

    What if Borden purchased the Tite-Bond Hyde Glue company?

    Might the logo be Horace the horse?
