Back in 2000, CRTs were still the main displays being used. I had 2 19-inch CRTs at work but they ate up a ton of desk space. When I got my first 21" LCD display at work (about 2004), I bought a KVM switch and got rid of both CRTs. I then purchased an LCD display for home (it cost about $1000 for a 21-inch 4:3 ratio display, but it was a lot easier to read than the 16-inch display I was using at home). I now have 3 24-inch displays (native 1920×1080 resolution) at home that together cost less than the first LCD display that I bought.
