At the gamers convention in Indianapolis my son attended, one of the first annoncements they made was to the “Uber Geeks” to be considerate of their fellow gamers and bathe using soap.

In the (old)British military, throw them in a cold bath and scrub them with a yard broom.

That is the classic “GI shower.”

Never understood how a Marine’s brass and boots could shine so, but they couldn’t comprehend a shower.

By the time he’s learned how to shine brass and boots, he’s learned about showers. The easy or hard way.

With all the regulations appearing in the workplace about use of cologne, perfume, deodorants etc. (Banning their use) I would not be surprised if more people claim they are only following an environmentally correct path when they get so stinky they make those around them gag.

Kenneth Johns–If you bathe regularly, you don’t need to douse yourself with cologne, and you can get unscented deodorants. I think the main problem with scents is that people use way too much. I hate it when I can smell someone coming down the hall before I see them, whether the problem is BO or aftershave.

I once heard an M.D. say (on the radio, thank God) that a person should bathe only once or twice a year. Supposedly this alleviated diseases and allergies. Maybe by keeping others away????

One of the problems with scents is that some people are chemically sensitive. In my daughter case, it will cause a severe asthma attack which takes up to a week to recover from. All that so someone can smell nice. That is why some work places have regulations.

Maybe she could find him some deodorant gum.

I don’t think the paper mask she is wearing is very helpful. She needs a gas mask.

Some posters over the last couple of weeks have deplored GT’s references to politics. In my view, politics is what makes Doonesbury interesting. Can we politicize this B.O. arc by connecting the “geek” with the “pigs” of big banking?

Today Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and JP Morgan Chase all bragged that they made money trading stocks and bonds every single trading day (61 days) last quarter. This boast comes while they’re under Congressional investigation for having cornered the markets–much like the geek saying “What’s that got to do with me?”

@free: You would too if your water bill was as rotten (bad choice of words there). And I bathe once in 4 weeks, whether I need it or not.

I agree AND disagree. G.T. is great at the politics stuff and I enjoy the debates, but sometimes is just nice to take a break.

In some movie who’s title I forget, the cowboys gang up on the cook and give him a badly needed bath. The stew that evening is so so tasty. Everyone asks for seconds and thirds and then …………… the wild hopping towards the single privy begins.
