^Musk is already coming up with more efficien batteries, to store energy from wind/solar at home, and that tech will also make vehicles more driveable range-wise. Interesting a guy from South Africa, that “prmitive” country, is leading the way to use, and profits.
I guess Henry Payne is against capitalism or only wants a certain type of capitalism that suits him. I guess he is also against American jobs. He is probably a communist.
The automotive industry is just as asleep at the wheel as they were when the Japanese began to surpass them in quality and efficiency. They can recover, though, by building cars. In fact, that’s what Musk is seeking. All the patents he has are in the public domain to serve that very purpose. The hydrocarbon industries are facing an almost existential threat. You can bet they’ll fight. If non transportation applications are all they have, expect them to demand intense “relief” from any and all pols who will take their money. Thanks Supreme Court!
For those who would like to know more about how Musk is out to slow the progression of climate change with Tesla and Solar City, go to the website “Wait But Why?” You have to be reality-based to appreciate the narrative, though. If you have a disdain for the scientific method, don’t bother.
Does this company stand a chance to ever stand on it’s own or is it’s main source of revenue a government subsidy? What happens when the gravy train is shut off?
Year over year, Tesla Motors, Inc. has seen their bottom line shrink from a loss of $74.0M USD to an even larger loss of $294.0M USD despite an increase in revenues from $2.0B USD to $3.2B USD. An increase in the percentage of sales devoted to SGA costs from 14.18% to 18.87% was a key component in the falling bottom line in the face of rising revenues.
There were shareholder proposals that Tesla use no animal products. This was directed toward leather seats. The proposals were defeated.(Body panels are aluminium and not involved at all.)

Could Payne be irked because Musk’s companies have benefited from $4.9 billion in various forms of government aid?
Musk may be a capitalist but he doesn’t shun corporate welfare….
