Could be Ohio. You have to remember that unemployment rates are stated by the number of people filling for unemployment. Once that benefit runs out, you are no longer on the “unemployed” list. Thus, our unemployment rate is stated far below the true number. Also, it does not take into consideration the “underemployment” problem. Don’t believe the governmental stats.

He lives in Oregon, where the U-3 unemployment rate (the measure that has always been used officially) is 5.3%. But dear old @Nabu doesn’t let facts affect his misinformed comments.

Now, what @puggles is describing isn’t U-6 either. It’s just a figment of his imagination.

I was there, but I was also very young, so I didn’t understand why I was standing in a line for a book.

Nab’s in Oregon. Or maybe Washington. He keeps referring to Oregon. Possibly he’s helping “Keep Portland Weird”, which I understand is a popular bumpersticker there, and exceptionally accurate, too.

Republico-fantasy land, where everything W and the neocons caused was Bill Clinton’s fault, and is now Obama’s fault. Almost as if W didn’t spend 8 years screwing us all.

He’s distorting the labor participation rate numbers, currently about 65% of adults participate in workforce. In the good old days of the early 1950s, it was much lower-about 52%. See http://www.factcheck.org/2015/03/declining-labor-participation-rates/

Maybe he’s talking about his own unemployment rate — perhaps he only works half the time.
