Oh, they live in California? Rain does merit celebration!

Pennies from heaven….Every time it rains it rains, pennies from heaven….

Or, Janis could go outside and go Singing in the Rain.

Or a wet tee shirt contest.

The lady complained, “I don’t know why I have to pay for water. The Lord gave it to us.”.I responded, “True, but He didn’t pipe it to your house.”.Needless to say, she was mad at ME rather than Him.

We are getting lots of rain here in the Maritimes(that’s eastern Canada, next to Maine for you Mercans). We even complain about it but no brown lawns.

It did rain here yesterday in the High Sierras and should rain again today…

Tom Cruise would be proud.

Here on the Central California Coast, some people (and even one town) have had to have water brought in by truck.

I actually broke out the hose/sprinkler last night. Now the forecast is rain………“figgers”…….you’re welcome!

Rain is only free until some government figures out how to tax it!

They must live in California. Move to Missouri- it rains at least once or twice a week during the summer.

I do feel sorry for the people in California – some are losing their livelihoods. We visited one daughter in Portland, OR, July 18 – 29th, and they were having a heat/dry spell, with brown lawns and such. That was interrupted by several days of intermittent rain, and temperatures in the high 60’s – mid 70’s. However, the day after we left, my daughter said on Facebook, her car thermometer registered 109º. Many places, hers included, don’t have A/C. With climate change, they may have to get it.

On the west coast of Florida, we have had prolonged dry spells, but now we’re having the opposite. For the past two or three weeks, a low-pressure area has settled over this part of the state, bringing some record-breaking rainfalls. In St. Petersburg, our dear old Shore Acres finally got it yesterday (we don’t live there, thank goodness). Up here on the Canadian “Wet” Coast they’ve outlawed watering lawns. If Janis were here everything in panel 1 would be either yellow or brown.

You wouldn’t by any chance be in the Lone Star State would you? That sounds like a perfect description of our weather.

I have a friend here in California whose house is on the market. She spray-painted the dead lawn green. Meantime, don’t buy bottled water if it’s bottled in California—those bottlers are taking what would otherwise go to farmers in the Central Valley, in one case operating without a permit since 1988 (and still no permit and still doing it.)

Arlo and Janis must live in good old Californiay!!

amaryllis2: That would be Nestle, a foreign (Swiss) company noted in the past for dressing its sales force to play-act doctors in impoverished countries without pure water to promote their infant formula over breast-feeding.

When in drought…we gotta wait it out. But NOT this summer in the SE!
