Silverstate, there is no difference. Bangers are sausages - because , if they are stuffed/adulterated with bread, they swell up and burst their skins. Bang!
There is on UK daytime TV the most moronic programme ever devised called ‘Deal or No Deal’. BuzzDog has obviously seen it - no offence. My mother-in-law watches it. My wife and I try to avoid being there. I assume he has similar problems.
And precisely what kind of English sausage might that be?
A simple Google search finds a site claiming a definitive recipe! However, as it lists pork butt I think it might not be authoritative. British websites e.g,(but not limited to) the BBC, have the same usage as I have claimed.
Good sausages don’t actually go bang, but they are still known as bangers. It is a slang term and NOT a precise definition. You cannot buy ‘bangers’ in UK butcher’s shop or in a supermarket.
iangoodson, there is a US version of “Deal or No Deal,” hosted by Howie Mandel; my mother-in-law watches it constantly (to our disgust). The “banker’s offer” is a feature where a “banker” (a figure shown in silhouette) offers the contestant a buyout equivalent to 40% to 75% of the possible winnings…it’s certain money for the contestant, albeit less than what he or she MIGHT have won.

Take them all Fred.

Here’s that actual arrangement: Fred takes the bangers, Jock takes the rap.

Seems fair to me. Jock is a lot smaller than Fred, but then again he has a lot more energy.
Someone from the UK, please tell me the difference between good ole sausage and bangers?

BuzzDog, I know what the Banker’s offer is as a construct - sadly.
But what is the offer in terms of sausages and in the context of the strip?
BuzzDog over 14 years ago
Oops…sorry! I was afraid that the UK version didn’t have that feature.
Sadly, I’m familiar with it for the same reason..and my mother-in-law is hard of hearing, so I must endure it at full volume!
