Try eating college food in the 1980s from a food supplier known as SAGA….which could’ve been interpreted as Soviet Attempt (to) Gag America. Genuine tongue depressant food.
‘The food in the Army they say is mighty fine, but a biscuit rolled off the table & killed a pal of mine…’ old song lamenting Army life…must’ve been WW2 era.
During the Vietnam war on one liked the cheese spread they put in the rations. Soldiers would just toss the cans unopened into the jungle. The vietcong were well known for reusing anything and everything our soldiers would throw away, but not even they would touch those cans of cheese spread.

Back in my army days I was eating out of my mess kit one day. A dog wandered over, took a sniff and walked away.
