B.D.: Another "Magnum?" What's her part, Sid? Boopsie: Anyway, ever since "Porky's," the offers have been pouring in! B.D.: Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Terms? Boopsie: Last week, I was even offered the lead bikini walk-on in a "Riptide," but I turned it down to work on a project I really care about. Mark: Oh? What project's that, Boopsie? Boopsie: It's very exciting, Mark! B.D. is producing me in an aerobics video that we're doing for charity. B.D.: Deal. But this time we want clean towels! Mark: Charity? Boopsie: Yes, it benefits Malibu mud slide victims.

Ah, the 1980s, an era of quality television. Well, there was Hill Street Blues

…and Dallas and Dynasty refused to end. You know, in Britain, it’s pronounced Din-asty, not Dye-nasty, so it quickly mutated into “Dysentery.” .(and we still watched every minute of it. What does that say for us? :-) )

A bunch of 1%ers built homes on the dunes of the north Oregon coast, where the geological survey had indicated that it was a dangerous and unstable site. When the dunes collapsed, the homeowners tried to get the state to compensate them. Some things never change.

The English badly mispronounce Americanbut we love ‘em anyway.Regarding floodplains, I was living in Amelia, LA and noticed a new foundation going up. It turned out I knew the owner and asked him why they were building the foundation so high above everything around him.He explained that federal regulations required him to build at least 6’ above sea level.“Yeah, but your foundation is right at 6’ high.”“That’s what it takes.”That part of Louisiana is far from the coast but still just about a foot or less above sea level. It beats New Orleans where they built in some cases 20’ BELOW sea level and depended on levees they refused to maintain..(Money was given but they decided to spend it on casinos rather than on the levees. Nobody cared until they drowned rather than walk to higher ground — and then they blamed Bush, of course.)
