The first time the National Anthem was played at a ball game (before it even WAS the National Anthem) was during the seventh inning stretch… quite by accident. Fascinating story actually. And it actually WAS a Cubs game… they were playing the Boston Red Sox in the World Series of 1918. Red Sox won 1-0 by the way.
