Any illness, disability, disorder, or even zombiefication you already have when you apply for insurance is a “pre-existing condition”…The rules say they can’t refuse to cover it… NOT that you need one to get coverage.
Mr. Dickerson is expressing it incorrectly. It is a pre-existing condition, but it’s not a pre-existing MEDICAL condition..But he’d best be careful. His brain might be considered a pre-existing condiment.

Pre in the insurance company’s view is before you became an insured. Catch it after your covered and your covered.

pre-existing means something was in existence prior to some particular time where it becomes important.
