Did anyone hear about the boy who was struck by a bat during practice. That is truly a sad story. My heart goes out to the family and the guy who hit him by accident. Real life is not like cartoons, when struck by a ball or bat, the person gets hurt or worse.
May 26, 1993.Texas Rangers outfielder Jose Canseco, playing at Cleveland against the Indians, chased a fly ball to the fence, where the ball bounced off his head and went over the fence for a Cleveland homerun.
One of the most remembered bloopers in sports.
Only in Baldo’s case, the ball is still on the playing field.
HAL69Sal Hemus, in the old Texas League called a pop fly, as did a couple other Dallas players. As a result, everybody yielded to the others, and it dropped in among them. (No, the infield fly rule did not apply). I don’t remember if it were ruled an error or a single, but the batter got to first.

oh, how embarrassing for Baldo (I would’ve thought he had gotten a black eye from that ball)

Frankly, he’s lucky he’s not in a coma or dead.

I would’ve figured he was better than that.
