Full five stars, Dave. Part of the reason I find it so funny is that it always startles and annoys the hell out of me when dogs do that. Having a cat try to tell the joke is a a stroke of genius!
Variation on a theme that just happened. My black Lab was sleeping on the floor beside my feet when I read this, so I looked at him and said “Knock, knock.” No reaction. Then I said “Who’s there?” and he jumped straight up and ran for the door. That made me laugh about as much as this cartoon.

It’s been 20 minutes. Do you need more time?

I have high regard for RC as one of the most reliably funny cartoons around, but I thought today’s was especially hilarious. Thanks, Dave.

This is really funny – thanks for the laugh! If you don’t get this, you have never had a dog.

OK, after three hours I’ll help you. Dog hears a knock at the door and barks.

It was always the dingdongs with my dogs, because like me, they liked knockers.
