When our daughters started taking violin in school, we found an entire set: violin (in their favorite colors), extra strings, extra bridge, case, and in one case, an electric tuner…all for $65 each! My older daughter has been playing for 5 years and the only thing we’ve had to replace was the case. When we first got them we figured, even if they never played after ONE year, it made its money back in the first MONTH.
I bought my first guitar at a moving sale for $7, the owner knew it was worth several times that, but it was given to him, he never learned to play, and it was just going to take up room when they moved so he only asked for $7. I learned to play on that guitar and had it for 3 years before I felt that I that I could justify a better guitar and sprang for an Alverez. I had that guitar for over 30 years before I fell out of practice with it and passed it on to a friend who is currently making good use of it with 6 sons all interested in learning to play guitar.
