If the characters in this strip could see the present they would be crying their eyes out at the decline of the American Republic, so bitterly divided that if the democrats said it was day outside the Republicans would say it was night and they wouldn’t be able to come to an agreement.
I always get confused about that “freest country” comment. Last I heard Americans still can not book a holiday in Cuba.. an island mere miles off the coast. Forced to pay taxes.. go to school.. drive on the right side of the road.. must have drivers licence. Just what.. is meant when you say the “freest country in the world”. Off hand.. you are just like many other countries… with perhaps a bit more arrogance.
