back in my day (graduated grade 8 in 1984) we alternated Christmas plays done by the grade 7 and 8 students as a combined project. One year they did a Christmas Carol. The alternate year they did āHansel and Gretelā or some other fairy tale play.
Neither my school nor my church performed any Christmas shows when I was a child. Iād always wanted to be in a Christmas pageant. Finally, years later, the church I currently attend asked if my daughter, who had just turned 2, could be an angel. They said that I could dress as an angel & be with her too. So, there I was, in my very first Christmas pageant, 40 years old and pregnant, dressed as an angel! (What was really funny was there was another mom with a 2-year-old boy, likewise pregnant, likewise angels!)
Connie Wrote about this in her hilarious story āAdoā which appeared in the January 1988 issue of Asimovās Science Fiction. āAdoā is also in Willisā short story collection āImpossible Things.ā
Karaoke, hmm? Then there are a lot of Christmas songs the kids could sing. For example: Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer, Frosty the snowman, Santa Claus is coming to town, Grandma got run over by a reindeer, and those are just the secular ones. Iāll bet odds to evens there will be kids who sing Christmas carols, too, with or without permission.
