Ah yes. The days of “Can I have a phone in my room?”
Some kids got their own line – but not many that I knew. I got a “Y” splitter to plug into the jack in my parent’s room and a REALLY long cord (that was regularly tripped over) from their room to my room down the hall.
Being an only child meant no siblings to listen in on conversations, but you still never knew if Mom was checking up on you.
That same long cord got dragged into a different bedroom that had been set up as the “computer room” when I wanted to go on-line. Mom picking up the phone meant having to restart whatever 3-hour file download I was in the middle of.
In observing this species, we must be careful in our approach. The male of the species is easily startled. But they have short memories and will soon return.

Fantastic Teena. That’s a good one laugh now. But in the future… who knows?

That’s ok. It works out for them in the end.
