John it’s nice of you to honor college graduates who will be facing the job market. What a tough market that’s going to be. But here in KS more local, don’t know about other states, Walmart is taking over some building or building new ones that will only feature grociers adding 100’s of jobs.
Kab Buch, I grew up working in the family business (grocery stories), but I mostly stayed out of it once I got into college. Of my siblings, I was the only one who didn’t go into business with one of my parents. Decades later, I still think I made the right move.
Otherwise, we’d be talking about groceries here–instead of comics…
Doctor Toon: It’s not a bad business. I might have enjoyed it more if I’d had a choice about working in the family business. (I started helping out in the 4th Grade and continued through my late teens.)
It seems like a piece of cake to me now–compared to freelance writing/cartooning!
Sorry John I wasn’t trying to make you mad or upset anyone. I have a 27 year old son that needs work I would like him to try even a school bus. I just hope what WalMart is doing helps in the ecomony since so many people don’t have jobs. And here in KS there where a lot of people let go not as bad as the automakers though.
I wanted to honor all graduates. Some states have different graduation dates.

Maybe it could have been a comic about a family run grocery store. Think of the endless range of characters.

Gosh, Kab. I wasn’t in the least bit upset. And–just so I’m clear–I would never put anyone down for taking a job. Especially these days.
