Rick: "March 27-- I notice tonight that I seem to have developed a special ritual with Jeffrey. Every afternoon, Joanie picks Jeffrey up from day care. They go to the park playground and then come home. Joanie reads to him, gives him a bath, and then after dinner, she brings him to me while I'm watching the news, and I kiss him good night. I do this every night without fail. It seems to work. Jeffrey's turning out great."

Boy, are you in for disappointment. But then again, youâre probably partially responsible for it.

His Walden education also left a lot to be desired.

I donât usually read these old strips, but this is one which probably works better in retrospect.

This is foreshadowing to the max.

I love how he played with the images in these older strips. And the bunny is awfully sweet.

âCatâs In The Cradleâ was redone by Ugly Kid Joe, although, to be fair, would you want to spend time with a kid named Ugly Kid Joe?

I grew up during the cold war. When I got to an age when i could understand I remember being horrified at the heartlessness of reports of Soviet children being raised in communes so their mothers could work âfor the glory of the State.â Now kids are raised in communes (although today they sleep at home) so their mothers can work for the glory ofâŠ.???

âThe catâs in the cradle and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man in the moonâŠ..But weâll get together then, dad. We gonna have a good time thenâ.
The meaning behind those lyrics are the core of the lives for so many uninvolved parents who wonder why their adult children donât come around. This dad is away even though he is home. Jeffrey needed a vivid imagination.

Rick never went to Walden. Joannie met him while she was managing her friends campaign for congress

A Math/history question; As I wander through the old family letters and other communications of an era gone by, it was the siblings that âraised each otherâ with love and respect while the father toiled and the mother did what she could to make this nation as great as it is.Now that weâre down to the Gummintâs recommendation of 2.1 children per family unit (when and if theyâre married, IF father can be found/named/indicted and Muslim-muscle direction to propagate as many children as possible as allowed by The Gummint, when will the point be arrived at that when a battlefield enemy shouts to whatâs left of us; âDie, American Bastards !!!ââŠand a Corporal turns to his Lieutenant and asks; âHassan, whatâs a bastard?â
Not a statement, just an observation from an 80 yoâs way things are going, for I donât want to be kicked off a politically-oriented strip that was kicked off the Comics Page onto the Op-ed Page way back when. I grow weary of snarky âprogressionismâ.. Kids, get some mileage on your meters before you grow out of yourselves.
