Mom: Grandma, do people really ask if this is a putt putt golf course? Grandma: All the time. Grandma: Or they barge into the yard and rumage around under the impression I've got a yard sale going on. Mom: You should tell them that your collection of lawn ornaments has been named a National Local Treasure! Grandma: A few well aimed deviled eggs speak louder than words!

I like Granny’s left-handed delivery! Has she ever played baseball?(And, she’s right about the deviled eggs.)

Apparently Grandma is ambidextrous. In her first appearance in the strip, showcased on the page to which MABRNDT provides a link, she throws right-handed. A most talented lady, she is ahead of her time.

Deviled eggs are not very aerodynamic. A good hard boiled egg would be better. Besides, deviled eggs are too delicious to waste.

I think I know who Alice takes after.

Does she use mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?

We have a yard near here that’s like that. She used to leave her driveway gate open and every time we walked by her house (her house is on the way to the park) my toddler would get excited and run into her yard and try to play with her stuff. She keeps her gate closed now.

What a waste of deviled eggs.

Just as Jonathan Swift had egg-based enemies-to-the-death, the Big Endians and the Little Endians (depending on which end of the soft-boiled egg they preferred to open), so Richard’s readers have the deviled-egg haters and the deviled-egg lovers. I hope we don’t fight to the death. I’m not telling what side I’m on. ♥ Oops.

Thanks still and yet, mabrndt. Your comments provide a real lagniappe, “something given as a bonus or extra gift.” (Google) For me, today’s giggle generator was Peter, Sr.’s, rolled eyeballs.

Big Shirley isn’t that big (only Alice seems to call her that) and she’s a bit old to go chasing after people.
