Gosh, Shika,,,, don’t mind if I do.So nice of you to offer me a drink from Bev!
Normally I’d put them on my tab, cos I have credit from working here…but since you made such a generous offer…I’ll go ahead and put them on hers.Thanks.
I received my first donation from a Facebook “friend” today. It was from someone that was adamant that she was not going to in any way help me.She used foul language to describe the spouse of one of my clients that had made arrangements to have her husband taken care of by church friends and us caregivers so she could go visit family a couple weeks ago.She raised hell with me when she found out that i was going to try to acquire a van so i could take clients places. It was the responsibility of the wife/family to get a van. Or, my boss. Even after i explained that van conversions were horribly expensive, and my clients were living on SSI and Disability. After explaining that In-Home-Care was a cash poor industry and purchasing something like a van was an extravagance that the company just couldn’t afford. She posted a story about how good of a person she was because she bought a bottle of water and a bottle of gatorade and gave them to a homeless person.A bunch of her Facebook friends praised her for how wonderful of a person she is for doing such a thing.I told her that helping others makes you feel good. and that I know how good it feels to help someone that couldn’t help themselves. That was last night.I got a $50.00 donation from her this morning.Sometimes it takes time for someone to get the message.Myself included. Took me over a year to figure it out…
Heck, it took me three years to go from, i think i may be drinking too much, to Wow, i have got to stop drinking! And another two years of stewing about it before actually quitting.
Funny… it’s called labor day, cos it celebrates work, but people get the day off.
But you and I, like a lot of others, have to work… so are we “celebrating” the holiday?
I guess you can celebrate Tuesday or Thursday, on your day off, with the extra from your time-and-a-half holiday pay…
As for me… the Tiki is like a holiday every day…. comfortable, cozy…you can eat barbecued ribs, even outside, if the weather is nice…surrounded by friends….

Maybe people are away for Labor Day weekend.
