39 people being killed by guns is no big deal to conservatives it’s when ONE person is killed by an illegal immigrant that they start screaming the sky is falling.
Gun violence isn’t just the fatalities. FBI and DOJ records have long shown for instance that those “defending” themselves against armed “bad guys” usually get shot themselves, just not killed, so “no big deal”, right?
According to the myths propagated by the NRA, my guns in my house on the west coast apparently prevents crime in Florida, given the absurd numbers often cited for “crimes prevented by guns”, in the millions.
Like climate change deniers, gun fanatics, which is NOT all gun owners, will never accept any real facts on the issue.
The FBI stats also show that nearly 1/2 of hand gun homicides involve a B!ack as either the convicted person or the victim. Banning guns from B!acks could drop the statistic 50%.
When a criminal is in your face, only YOU can defend you. What people that live in Gated communities and go to work where there is armed security and send their children to schools that have security minutes away from their child want to do- take away your ability to defend yourself.
The “ability to defend yourself” is like the idea of being safe because you keep lions in your house. A gun kills the people who own it and their families far more often than it stops an intruder. States with more guns have more gun deaths. This isn’t rocket science.
What’s interesting in Martin’s chart is that it shows that like on like attacks, black, white, or hispanic, are higher against “their own”. Shows that xenophobia is misplaced, as it’s your own “kind” most likely to kill you.
