I have a medicare supplement that costs about a hundred a month and $5.00 per prescription, for a three months supply. It’s called Essence, but it may be only around St Louis. Maybe I’m just lucky to live in an area with good insurance. Obamacare is closing the donut hole, but $1000 a month in deductibles and $450 for insurance? I don’t know what medications you need, but that really sounds excessive. Have you checked Medicare supplements, or can you qualify for Medicaid?
I pay a max of $20 for a 90 day prescription. Did I mention I’m Canadian? Free doctor and hospitalization and not much chance that you will get shot by some nut-bar.
My Mom said they planned on traveling when my Dad retired. She said they did. To the doctors, and home…then back to the doctors and back home. Now we are retired, and we are “traveling”! To the doctors and home. As to medications, I’m glad we have a Costco!
comicsssfan“Canadians are more civilized.” That’s what a Canadian friend said any time we had culture shock while living there. The problem was, she was usually right. Instead of Norman Rockwell pictures of a doctor’s vigil by a child’s bedside, our doctor papered his waiting room walls with major medical journal articles he had written..hsawlraeI only have made it to 82 so far; still no pills, but minor surgical repairs becoming more frequent.

Yep, I meet my yearly $2,000 deductible before the end of February in prescriptions alone. Not counting the $450.00 a month health insurance bill.

It’s unfortunate, but it is a fact of senior life for many Pluggers…

Well, at least now I have a new name for people who spend more on drugs than food.

The only meds I take today are the result of a chronic disease I was struck with at age 13, so I’ve been taking care of it for well over 50 years…
