Pig has a crazed look in his eyes; has he gone completely potty?

A good bed-and-breakfast is just fine; more intimate than a hotel, assuming the traveler wants to meet and know people….Pig, relax! The bathroom is yours!

For a wonderful bed and breakfast try Amalfi B & B in Dornoch, Scotland!

Next week: Paris realizes too late that the “B&B” is actually the Hotel California!

Many B&Bs offer private bathrooms, but you have to check first. My wife and I almost always stay at B&Bs when on vacation. But yes, you have to like being around people, as you actually talk to the other guests at breakfast.

Frankly, I’d give a pig all the “alone-time” in a bathroom he wanted, plus an hour.

Like it has been said – check the listings. Most rooms do have their own bathroom. The one I stayed at also had an available kitchen with cooking utensils and the breakfasts were great but you do eat as a group with the other occupants

B+B are not for everybody. Young people would find them ‘weird’ compared to modern chains hotels, but it is a good way to get a true experience of the local cuisine and traditions. A Holiday Inn is the same in Savannah as in Anchorage, a Bed and Breakfast is very different one from another

my grandparents used to have a bed in breakfast. they transformed a pretty large house that that 4 floors (no basement). the first floor had the living room, kitch and dining room, floors 2 and 3 were the bedrooms for the guests and the 4th floor which was where their room was. when I stayed over, they used the office area (part of the 4th floor) as a guest room.

Poor Pig. He needs to try it and see that his fears are much overrated.

Next he should try a Japanese family bath. . . .

some b n b’s expect more togetherness than others at breakfast. and other times. i’ve experienced a range. certainly the enforced intimacy of the ones at the extreme would be worse for rat than anything including a shared bathroom

B&Bs in Europe can be interesting. A couple of friends and I stayed in a lovely one in Venice. Turns out it was the home of a countess who needed the money.

Having lived in the UK and mostly stayed in B&Bs when travelling I’ve never heard of one with bathrooms shared between rooms. Saw a cheap hotel that had it once, but that’s a different story.
