Reminds me of the time my husband was talking with a workmate whose wife just had a baby; we had just gotten a puppy. Someone walked up and asked, “So how’s Miles?” and they both answered “Just fine, thanks.” The new father was not pleased with our choice of puppy names, needless to say.
