Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 02, 2015
Transcript:
Caulfield: I will be so glad next month when the election is over. Frazz: I think the election you mean is a year from next month. Churchill was right. This really is the worst system except for all the others. Frazz: And all he had to deal with was the BBC.

Thank you Mr. Mallett! Best of Churchill’s quotes. Even ahead of “And lady, you are ugly. But tomorrow I will be sober.”

What? We’re being run by a dog who likes to eat garlic? Well, I applaud his gustatory tendencies, but I deplore comical leanings! Let’s get back to representative democracy.

Oh no.The current hoopla is all about adequate vision. It is the 2020 campaigns starting up.The Extraordinary Vision campaigns for 2016 were all done in the 1970s.

So what we need is to keep government from being the major economic force in the country? That sounds like a great idea. But how are you going to cut spending to make it happen?

Mussolini has long been credited with saying, “Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.” (Though I discovered there is evidence another proud fascist actually said this) However, I describe our elected as a fascist two party oligarchy. Government led by the few with the aid of the corporations. The result is a plutocracy, so… I am agreeing with you, NG49. Respectfully,C.

When did the editorial section take over the comic section? Except for true democracy and /or “true communism” ie: Utopia, all governmental systems are plutocracies.

Let’s impose term limits on congress…and the Supreme Court.Say, 10 years and 14 years respectively. (The Justices should be retired in a step-wise manner.)

The sad thing is that we will probably have to chose the lesser of two idiots to be the next president.
Paudil about 9 years ago
@AgewalkerNot so. You can vote third party and send a message to the two idiots. By always voting of the lesser of two evils, you’ll always get it.

Term limits don’t accomplish what you are trying to accomplish. You throw out the good ones with the majority. You just need informed voters so the good ones stay and the corporate stooges can go get a job with their contributors. If you really want to know who a candidate will be working for, look at a site called “Open Secrets”. There are others, but this is a good one. It will tell you who is financing their campaign………………………………………….. We all have to do the bidding of who ever is supplying the money to pay our bills. So do politicians. If most of their money is coming from individuals, unions, or other organizations representing the Middle Class, that is who they are going to work for. If most of their money is from banks, etc, they are going to work for the 1%. They don’t really have any choice if they want to win the next election. To vote their conscience against the 1% would be political suicide.

Only the BBC? Not the London Times? The Grauniad? Many others I know not the names of?
Lyons Group, Inc. about 9 years ago
Yes, when the BBC was something. Now it’s just as worst as the Radio-TV Networks in this country.

Canada’s election in next month. Only one house to elect, no primaries, and leader of winning party is PM. We have tight 3-way race going and it should be interesting if no one wins a clear majority. The Trump and Hellary Road Show wouldn’t work up here.

Just think how bad it would be with a dictatorship: This guy or death – choose one!

@BigPuma, I was about to say the very same thing! The kid can drop random Winston Churchill quotations, yet doesn’t know when the election is?? It defies logic.

Are you sure you are not talking about the Oct 19 election in Canada?
Fido (aka Felix Rex) about 9 years ago
“Dealing” with the BBC? Really? During WWII Churchill was the master of the BBC, since he didn’t have a pesky 1st Amendment to hold him back. All kinds of things never saw the light of day.

Your arguments are losing people who might otherwise join your side of the Great Divide you are maintaining.Maybe you need to re-read the Manifesto and come up with fresh, new ways of presenting your proposition for totalitarian control as something more sweet and benign.
Brass Orchid Premium Member about 9 years ago
I mean… look at Bernie Sanders. He presents the idea of a centralized totalitarian society as a saving grace that can remake humankind in the likeness of a kinder and gentler deity that the horrifyingly hostile and sickeningly superior one in whose image they must be made.He doesn’t need to be a jerk.He just sets the nooses and lets the jerks dance to his tune.
