    Columbus didn’t know where he was going and didn’t know where he was when he got there. He thought the world was 25000 miles around by north south poles, but 8000 around the equator.

    Debari is in India, in the state of Rajasthan, near the capital, Jaipur. So this makes sense of Columbus’ confusion, that is, thinking that he was in India. Of course, had he reached India by sailing west, he’d have touched the east coast, whereas Rajasthan in in the northwest, bordering Pakistan… and landlocked. So we shouldn’t overthink these jokes, I guess, just laugh and read the next one. Cheers.
