I always read the morning paper! It has been a daily event since I was in my teens, and that is a fair time ago!
About three years ago, as I was paying my bills, the morning paper bill was one on the stack. It was staggering, considering most of what was deposited on our front stack was ads from Target or Menards, so I called the subscription department.
The guy who picked up was nice enough, and offered a number of options, most of which were just reductions in delivery; i.e., only Mon-Fri, Fri-Sun, Sat & Sun, or Sun only! I told the guy, if I wanted to, I could pick up a copy at the local Quik Trip or PDQ convenience store for a lot less than having it delivered.
Now, I know the charge for delivering the paper is basically to cover the cost of actually delivering the paper, and most of the real production costs are born by the advertisers. But, in all fairness, the doorstep delivery they promise, is often at the end of the drive, if delivered at all, so unless they could guarantee improved service, I am not going to be a customer!
I think I was on the phones with this guy for 15-20 minutes, before I told him to cancel my subscription. He said I owed him for x weeks of service, and I told him to send me a bill for those weeks and I would pay!
I read the paper every day, on line now, and don’t have to throw out any Target or Menards ads…

I bet Sybil looks at the food reviews at the restaurants or pubs that serve gin.

Why does Dad look worried? At least the two aren’t getting into trouble.

Wonder what Fido (Lio’s pet tarantula spider) is reading?

sadly, the sports section is a lot of what keeps a newspaper alive. saying trash about it does not help the paper or those who love to read it

Our small town newspaper is a whole 16 pages long. If it’s graduation time, they throw in a second section with the pics of the grads.
I love how Ishy can hold his paper, cup, the saucer, and glasses all at the same time.

Well, when you’re named for one of the characters of great literature, you take an interest in these things.
