It’s true it really is! That is when I stopped eating it. How can it be good for you when it eats toxic stuff?

You appear to have the liver confused with the kidneys (which filter the waste) and bladder (which temporarily stores the waste). From the Science-Based Medicine site:“…The liver performs a series of chemical reactions to convert toxic substances into ones that can be eliminated in bile, or the kidneys. The liver is self-cleansing – toxins don’t accumulate in it, and unless you have documented liver disease, it generally functions without any problem. The kidney excretes waste products into the urine – otherwise the substance stays in the blood.”

I’ve never liked liver. Once in boot camp we had liver. I put half a bottle of catsup on it just so I could get it down. That was the last time for me.

Love liver and onions all grilled up nice…and maybe add some mushrooms….yum yum! I’ve read you should not make it part of a regular diet, but occasionally it’s fine.

I grew up in a family of 7. Only 2 of us 5 kids were finicky, but I remember well the last time liver was served. Only Mom & Dad would eat it. Evidently, neither one of them liked it that well either, as every time afterward, that we’d get a side of beef, the liver was given away. (Dad raised our own beef.)

Yes, the liver filters waste from the blood – but it doesn´t keep the waste in. It is being moved out of the body.

Ofc there is iron it it – its due to the blood. But even if there is some minor amounts of “waste” in it that is removed on being prepared for eating, the liver is more a filter and not a “cess pool”, so that description is just being ignorant. The apendix would be a “cess pool”.

Bile is a digestive enzyme, not a waste product. Liver is very good for you and tasty too.

Cynthia reflects a typical attitude from a certain segment of society when it comes to “lesser meat”: liver, chicken gizzards and hearts, cow’s heart and tongue, etc.

I ate it when I was a kid. Also ate squirrel and rabbit. Now? No to all three. But back then the rule was, “You have two choices……..take it or leave it”! If you chose to leave it, there was no replacement for it. You didn’t get “Something else”!
