There are appropriate “doggie restraints” out there for driving. And anyone who actually cares about their dogs, themselves, and their safety in a collision uses them — because if you are in a collision, an unrestrained dog turns into a 20-lb. missile fired at the windscreen, just exactly the same way an unrestrained child would.
Usually this comic strip is very animal friendly, but this one is a real loser! Anyone who really cares about their dog does not bring that dog on a shopping trip (unless it’s a place like PetSmart that allows dogs inside the store). In warm or hot weather, the car becomes an oven within minutes. In cold weather, the car is like an icebox. And in any weather, the dog is vulnerable to anyone who wants to steal the car or break a window and steal the dog. When you shop, leave your dog at home! If the dog likes to go for a ride, drive the dog to a park for a walk or just drive around the neighborhood. But do not leave a dog in a car while you shop.

My dog is EXACTLY like that.

It’s warm, and that’s where the alpha dog sits.

My sentiments exactly. In some places the law will intervene.

It will, actually, if the windows are left up. Somehow I doubt this particular driver would do that, though.
