Ralph: $200,000,000??!! Maybe I should buy one! Smart Ralph: Don't do it, Ralph! Gambling rarely pays off! Dumb Ralph: $200,000,000??! You'd be crazy not to buy a $2 ticket! Smart Ralph: Wait, it only costs two bucks?? Dumb Ralph: Buy a thousand tickets to increase your chances!

I never gamble on the Lotto, though sometimes I donate a couple of dollars to the state.

I love how the sash says “DUMB”

Odds against winning it all are about 200 million to one! Buying 1,000 tickets will indeed make for a small increase; but it’s not going to be enough of a difference to really make any difference! And not only that, even if you did win, it may be more of a curse than a blessing; this is why I don’t even play the dumb Lottery!

Chances of getting hit by lightening are only 17 million to 1.

If the numbers above are correct then you’re twelve times more likely to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery. So if you’ve already been struck by lightning twelve times then I say go ahead and buy that ticket.

The fix would have to be in for that to work. So, who exactly would get to pick the winner?

I occasionally buy one ticket. Never more. The way I see it, the odds of winning are so small that it will require an act of God to win. And if God wants you to win, you don’t need more than one ticket. So I buy one ticket every now and then, just in case God decides I deserve a miracle for some inexplicable reason.

Of all the people I know that play the Lottery regularly, I have only heard of one $10 win, one $200 win, and one $10,000 win, and the $200 and $10,000 were the same person.

I haven’t bought a ticket in a while, but I use to figure that the small thrill I got from scratching off an instant ticket was worth $1 if I could spare it. I remember an episode of Bensin where they did a publicity stunt for the first state lottery and Pete(?), the governor’s aid purchased the first 50 lottery tickets , then Benson bought 1. The winning ticket was #51 and Benson ended up donating the full amount to charity. At the end of the show the Governor’s daughter was selling tickets for her school’s drawing and once again Pete bought 50 tickets, Benson turned to him and said, “Didn’t you learn anything?” and Pete replied, “You’re right, better make it 51.”

I once said “I’d play the lotto but I would probably never win.”Someone said I should think more positively about it.So I replied “Ok, I’m positive I wouldn’t win.”

Lottery: A tax on people who are bad at math.
