Joel and I were both quite pleased and surprised to see gentle Si!!!! He is a grand sort of fellow, and Joel told me he & Rufus wouldn’t’ be opposed to having him be a sidekick with them, a trio of good doers, so-to-speak. At the pipe shop on Friday, I found an Irish Cream tinctured burley & viginian blend. Joel & I each tried a few bowlsful, and while it had a nice flavor, we both thought it was a bit too “weak-kneed” for our liking.

Nice to see Walt enjoying a laugh with a contemporary, but I have no idea who that gentleman is.

Couldn’t Walt use the phone from which Mutt had called him? And,yes, who is SI and has he also aged in real time? I though only characters in GA aged.

At least he didn’t say he wears a diaper.

A comic strip fact here. Plus, just ask Pipe Tobacco, after he’s had his daily visit with Joel!

Si Slocum was the farmer in the strip “And Her Name Was Maud”

He looks familiar, but I can’t place him. Someone from the 20s or 30s, maybe? Maybe a character in Our Boarding House, or Moon Mullins?

My first guess is Foxy Grandpa

No, that’s Si from Opper’s “And Her Name Was Maud” about Si and his cantankerous mule that always ended kicking Si “into the next county.”

I’m pretty sure his name was Si Silo.
