The seasonal candy aisle at Wal-Mart has one side of Halloween candy and the other side Christmas. And so begins the madness. Though I will admit, I bought ONE thing from the Christmas candy only because I found it irresistible. You know those chocolate oranges? Well, Ovation has a creme de menthe one this year. There was only one left, so I took it. Thatâs one of those things that I think should be available year round. The orange chocolate oranges are and I get them once in a while.
The only reason stores put out Christmas stuff so early is because people BUY it, they wouldnât do that if people wouldnât buy it, so you donât like early Christmas stuff, then donât buy it. They arenât going to waste precious retail space for stuff that wonât sell.
Me personally, I could careless when they put it out. Far as Iâm concerned they can have it out year round, I choose to not let it bother me.
Does anyone remember the 1940 movie âChristmas in Julyâ?Well with retailers marketing their wares earlier and earlier. Itâs going to be a reality one day. Itâs the same problem with clothing. Heck, can anyone find a decent swimsuit in August? Or a winter coat in January?
My neighbor (who is a volunteer Santa in December) dressed up as Santa when he answered the door last Halloweâen. Kids going to his house were pretty confused!
Always look not only for the first blowfly of Summer (am in Australia) but the first sign of Christmas. What I feel is the unbeatable entry for my award was a kidâs Christmas stocking on display in a local supermarket in July. Maybe there are earlier examples but this one went for the âgrand slamâ by having a bag of candies in it with a âUse by dateâ of November that same year.Oh, oops, the original subject was Halloween â apologies for spooking about Christmas.

If there was only 1 available, maybe it was from last year.
