The non-bird dinosaurs didn’t die out because they were sub-standard in some way but because they tended to be bigger than their flying cousins. When the comet hit it crashed the ecosystem, so that there wasn’t enough food to support large life forms. If you have enough food in an area to support say two tons of vertebrate that’s about half a (non bird) dinosaur, but thousands of mice or small birds.
And there would be plenty of dead plant matter and insects feeding on it, so if you were small and ate insects (or were an insect yourself) you could do very well. In addition, birds could fly away from the crash zone and in search of food.
Crocodilians survived, even though they are large, because they have very small babies who grow only slowly and can live on insects for decades if they have to.
Yes, Nab can’t even get the name of his hoax correct. It’s the Paluxy river, big among mindless creationists during the 70s, but now known (by all except Nab, apparently) to be a hoax. Or maybe he does know, but is just in on the scam. Those who posted thanking him for the “information” have some studying to do. Real science, real paleontology, and real history are interesting. Far more interesting than taking myths literally, which is the modus operandi of the three-year old. An excellent start is Donald Prothero’s book “Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why it Matters”.

I have walked many miles “in those shoes” and I am not being flippant…

Yes indeed, the mammals will inherit the earth. I’m also pretty sure the rats will still be here when all traces of humankind are extinct…

Dang! And here—all along—I thought the world was only about 90 years old.
Not even in dog years?
