Am I the only devout Pluggers reader in the U.S. who caught the grammatical error in today’s (7-22-10) Pluggers???
The error was the word “entitled”. The word should have been “titled”. Yikes, all the English teachers in the country were most likely cringing today when they read it.
Don’t believe me, look it up.
Guess this makes me a Plugger of sorts. Maybe I should write Gary and suggest that a Plugger is a person who catches a grammatical error in a Pluggers comic. : )
Anyone else see the mistake? Please say yes.
I am a published Plugger, so I take Gary Brookins very seriously. Even if this Dion Coles suggested the wording, Gary should have caught it, right?
While “titled” probably would have been a better word … if I’ve understood the definition correctly, I believe the word “entitled” was used correctly here.
See: Definition #2 under “verb” (at the top) and the first sentence under “Word Origin & History” (towards the bottom).

Pluggers are the people responsible for keeping the self-help industry stay afloat. And that’s terrible.

Chief, when the box says, “A classic thanks to..” that is code for re-run, ie: Gary’s on vacation.

Good one BaldTom. I bought books I’ve read or already have from garage sales.

Obviously … the book didn’t work the first time around regarding the improving of her memory! Maybe it’ll work the second time???

Hmmm, I just googled “book entitled” and came up with a ton of references. So it turns out to be proper usage, if a bit antiquated.
