Apparently for politics, however, Rubio maintains a Catholic identity. .When asked about his religion by those who know his past, he becomes nicely ecumenical. He sounds very tolerant, which is a good thing.
His sister Barbara went on to marry Orlando Cicilia. In 1989 a jury found Cicilia guilty of possessing large quantities of cocaine and marijuana and of travelling to several states to sell and deliver drugs. He was convicted as part of a drug-trafficking ring that paid off cops and sold cocaine by the kilo. Other members of the ring had murdered and dismembered a government informer.
Mr. Cicilia was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. However, he got paroled well before that term was up.
Brother in law Orlando Cicilia now seems well to do and remains very close to Mario Rubio. Barbara and Mario’s mother live with him.
Orlando Cicilia is an important supporter of Mario’s political ambitions. He often appears on stage with Mario during political campaigns. Orlando’s son, Mario’s nephew, was travel aide to Mario when he ran for the Senate.
