Magna Carta, isn’t that some 800 year old scrap of paper that said the central ogvernment should give up it’s illegal power, stop taxing so much, and abide by old established law? How could that have any bearing on us?
@ Lewreader: The Magna Carta largely protected the rights of inheritance and clarified the obligations of the knightly class and above to the Crown, to prevent abuses. The only rights for commoners involve fair trials and the right to be paid promptly for stuff requisitioned by their lords and masters.
Oh MRSSASKFAN did the Knightly class not act as our state governments do today? Did commoners (ie. non land owners) fair much better here? Would the US have our two most treasured documents if not for the Magna Carta. Maybe you believe the Constitution was wrong and centralized power is best.

On a hot day when everyone’s wearing a swimsuit, I’d bet that getting squirted with a “mega-soaker” is a reward rather than a punishment.
Another Joe moment! I saw one of the original copies of the Magna Carta at the British Museum the last time that I was in London.

I’ll bet he deliberately got that wrong. I know I would, especially if it was a hot & humid day.

I thought the Magna Carta was a cheesecake-like dessert.
