Is there still time to get the old place back?

The “hallway” is your living area, and the “closet” is your bedroom. I am not kidding.

A couple of friends of mine had a place like that in Queens. Open the door, and the bulk of the place went straight back in one line toward the rear window. I think there was one bedroom and bath to the side, but that was it.

I though “How nice that they could get a third floor walk-up trailer home.”

Yes indeed, welcome to NYC! Priciest real estate in the country, if not the world. Home is where you hang your head.

Crack on the wall changes in every strip. The newspaper is more exposed in the last panel. Mike’s belt goes from brown to white.

I can’t enjoy this strip without knowing if the crack on the wall changed slightly, or if somebody’s hand prop moved in an unaccountable way. What if the color of the newspaper is a tiny bit different? I HAVE TO KNOW.

They’re also called “shotgun” apartments, OR HOUSES, in a lot of our major cities. Hate to think how much rent/mortgages have increased since ’85.

You know, the way to drive down rents in NYC is live somewhere else: Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, El Paso, Fresno, Gainesville, Houston, etc.

A friend had a shotgun apartment in Hell’s Kitchen a few years ago. Maybe 8 feet wide. Fifth floor walk-up, no elevators. I think it was probably in the apartment listings because this apartment was listing. I kept expecting it to fall over. There was a window in the back looking over a courtyard and fire escapes.

Just hope the crack in the wall isn’t really a fissure in space/time. The apartment appears to be the anti-Tadis, far smaller on the inside than it appears on the outside.

I think there’s a reason the crack in the wall is bigger in the last panel. Says something about the condition the place in.
