I remember younger version of those days. My own dad had long finished serving in Army did not talk much of it. His son served and my mom his step mom would bake cookies to send to him and the guys. Those military back then and including now receiving letters meant a lot now they have Skype.
There was a lotta Gasoline Alley strips concerning WWII with Skeezix and his platoon in action back then in the NY/National papers. They can be seen on many genealogical newspaper sites (admission fee, of course) and I ain’t gonna take the botheration of learning HTML at this advanced age just to show what it was all about, ‘cuz it’s work and as we all know work is the curse of the drinking class.
Gweedo; Thanks for the “pointer.” It made my afternoon, roaming around that site and soaked a couple hankies wiping away tears, remembering what most of the boys in our village went through ‘back then.’ Just like my cousins, Skeezix came back with a ‘Ruptured Duck’ a Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Medal and maybe a National Service medal, plus a firm detestation for any more fightin.’

It was speculated here that there may be some “flashbacks” or memories from Skeezix. Glad to see it happen!

His story isn’t being told in front of a class, but we fans are going to love this.

My Dad was in the North Atlantic running convoy escort. His convoy was one that had to scatter when Bismark broke out!
