As Friday has arrived it is time to prepare for the weekend Cappers! Drove my truck thru the car was yesterday and rain is forecast for Satuday & Sunday!
When I lost my job I applied for and was accepted for what was called “No worker left behind,” a retraining program where you selected a 2 year school program to learn a new job and the state paid for the schooling and books. I was happy with the program and looked forward to the training and new employment, unfortunately things worked against me, my arthritus got so bad during the first few months that I qualified for disability, then my hernia strangulated and I ended up in the hospital for 2 hernai repairs, 1 bowel reconstruction, and a 2 month coma. During the coma I was on a ventalator for 3 weeks (I still see the trach scar whenever I look at my neck in the mirror), my kidneys shut down (1 dialysis treatment kicked them back into full action) and my legs atrophied. I spent several months relearning how to walk but I still need a walker because I have an occasional brain fart and trip over my own feet so I’d end up flat on my face without the walker. After I got out of the nursing home I finished my training program so I’m qualified for my a new job, but because of my mobility problems, transportation problems, and general pain from my arthritus I haven’t been able to get a job. If I could get a job and the experience that goes with it I could do the work from home, but without the experience no one’s going to take a chance with an unknown Technical writer.
I can’t get a job because of my physical problems, I know other people who can’t get a job because of mental problems, but we’d all be glad to have a job. Andy is both physically and mentally capable of getting and holding a job, he’s just too lazy to do it.
Somebody was kicking off at the Job Centre today. It made me feel uncomfortable, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.
He was saying stuff like “Do your (bleeping) job properly!” and “You’re all a joke”
Now of course I’d rather be employed than on the dole but the Job Centre staff always treat me with respect. Unless I have a bad experience, I don’t have a bad word to say against them.

Unlike Andy, I do not like being unemployed. I am actively looking for work.

Well, take it or leave it, Andy; you can’t bum money off of people forever, you know!

That path includes hard work – now who wants that?
